as i mentioned, i really wanted to take part in the travelling gmail m-velope video collaborative, so here is my submission! fans of snappy, you're in for a treat :) i'm so proud of my snappy :P
okay today i feel much better. much more relaxed.
i did procrastinate a lot, but i finally managed to pack my suitcase for the weekend at the theatre.
packed bathing stuff, make up stuff, grooming stuff and my costumes & my shoes! hope i don't forget anything.
had to do some last minute tweaking of my costumes today too, and mom's gonna help me work on them tomorrow.
snappy update: i've fixed up his new tank. it's huge! lots of gravel to scuttle around in and a huge pool to soak in. i took a video but i don't have time to edit it and show it to you yet. but he loves it there. i inverted a small paper tray and it looks exactly like a dog house with a little entrance and that is where he usually is. that's snappy's little home! :) every time i try to sneak up to him, he scatters back into his hideaway. but ants have been infesting his tank and stealing his food. ugh.
i listened to pink floyd today. it's pretty bizarre stuff but quite relaxing after you get used to it. i hope it's not satanic or anything. and i'm checking out the silly wizard of oz conspiracy on youtube. it's quite funny.
my poor snappy.
i had neglected him for two days.
left him to a filthy tank with no food.
marie 'reminded' me to check on him, so i did.
and, oh what a state he was in.
he was so, so defensive!
like the first day i got him!
it's like he didn't recognise me.
he was scattering around in his fighting pose, ready to attack.
but then he calmed down a little.
and i fed him.
he was so hungry!
i put food on my finger and put it near him.
and he picked the food off my finger.
but he didn't want to eat carrots today.
maybe he doesn't like carrots anymore.
i hope he's okay.
i still haven't got him that tank i promised him.
today snappy's tank was infested with ants!
ok, it wasn't super infested, but there was an ant line to and from snappy's food dish, ugh!
snappy didn't really eat his carrots last night, but i managed to witness him eat a crab pellet.
my snappy shate a lot last night.
he likes to shit on the land - the logs, i dunno why. it's like he designated that area for it. i found many pieces of shit on it. i think it's cos he doesn't want to sleep with his shit. poor snappy. i need to get him a better crabitat soon. i wonder if they pee though. i never witnessed any pee, cos obviously it would dissolve into the water.
and i reckon he ate all the carrots i gave him! he didn't eat the broccoli sprouts, tsk! so snappy likes carrots! there's just one problem - is that he tends to kick some of the food into the water and not eat them. he really likes to kick things around man, shifting rocks here and there. hah.
it's time i introduced snappy, our new pet crab. i got him last week whilst walking past a fish shop! he is a rainbow crab and only about 5cm wide by 3cm. i like him loads!

i actually got him for my dad, for a post-father's day present, cos he was complaining that i didn't get him anything.
anyway, i am still having problems caring for him. in the first few days, he wasn't eating the shrimps my dad gave him. i was afraid he was gonna die. but today i managed to watch him eat a few of the crab food i bought! they are tiny little pellets and he ate only four. he doesn't need to eat a lot at each sitting. i've been doing lotsa research on him. i plan to make him a larger tank. currently he is in a small pet tank like the type people keep baby terrapins in. he has not much room to move but i have no choice as i haven't got him a better home.
he mostly likes to hide under the logs, and sit there. when i come visit him, he gets scared and defensive. he is a land crab, so he needs to come out of the water to breathe. i gave him an inch of water to submerge in, but he will raise his mouth out to breath after a few seconds. very cute! it's also cute to watch him pick up food and rocks with his little pincers.
here's a video of snappy from the second day after i got him - i'm being really retarded, trying to get his attention and irritating him. he's really afraid of me. sigh. i guess the best thing i can do is leave him alone. this is not his tank. i took him out cos i thought he might want to run about. and he pinched my finger really hard until it bled. so don't try to carry them!
